The FIFAe World Cup 2024 featuring Football Manager marked the inaugural Next Generation Event, as FIFA hosted its first esports competition since the end of its partnership with EA.
Held over four days at ACC Liverpool, the event saw 20 players representing 19 different FIFA member associations compete across three intense gameplay seasons, each utilising one of four selected professional teams.
Just like professional managers, each participant engaged in official press conferences, interviews, and responded to media and community feedback, tackling the full spectrum of a manager’s challenges.
LIVELee designed two bespoke spaces to bring this unique format to life. The first space hosted the group stages, featuring individual competition areas for all managers alongside a press conference and media hub.
The second space transitioned into the knockout phase, complete with player positions, a main presenter desk, and a tactical stage where we could dive deep into gameplay metrics, breaking down competitors’ actions to illuminate their journeys. An adjoining sofa area hosted guests, Sam Allardyce and John Terry, who shared insights and stories, weaving their football experiences into the fabric of the competition.
The final knockout rounds unfolded in our main studio, set before a live audience.
In total, LIVELee produced 600 hours of custom content, streaming across FIFAe’s YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch channels, with everything also accessible on fifa.gg.
